For Media Studies, we used mac’s to produce all creative media in AS.. We used www.blogger.com for our production & pre-production blogs, it allows us to upload and edit the content that gets posted. In A2, blogger is still used however I took my own approach on creative media,.

We used iMovie to make animatic storylines for our film introductions. This is a very basic editing program that comes free on most Mac systems. We used a flash mic to record a group member talking about our animatic storyline, this wasn’t the best device to use as it continuously didn’t work and eventually ended up breaking. At the end of the year i started to practice using Final Cut in preparation for A2 Media Studies.

I felt like a challenge so I edited my AS coursework in Final Cut. This was a big decision I made and it seriously impacted my creative decision-making, it also probably affected the mark I got as I used various effects and transitions that weren’t available in the iMovie Software. We also used a Nikon D80 Digital SLR camera, this had 10.2 megapixels and we used it to get still shots of the main character.

The use of photoshop allowed us to manipulate images to create various pieces of media for our short sequence such as graphics, titles and company logo’s for our film. This included tools such as the magic wand tool, Lassos, Colour filters and much more.

For my A2 Coursework, I chose to edit with my preferred program that is Sony Vegas Pro 11. Since I am familiar with this, I had no issues with it, therefore making it easier to edit and overall created a better outcome than what Final Cut could produce. When you’ve been editing as a hobby before I started college producing videos for youtube.

When it comes to the camera for A2,  we used my Panasonic HD60 Full HD camera for a more professional approach and look for the music video. We used it for live performance and studio shooting. Since it was in a special HD format, I had no choice but to use Sony Vegas as Final Cut didn’t support that HD file type, making my choice of program superoior. The studio also has Sony HD cameras with green screen and autocue that aided up for our Question 3 Evaluation task .

The use of photoshop for A2 was used for similar reasons. However, this time around I had a lot more experience with the software. After AS, I downloaded it at home for personal use and have spent a lengthy sum of time on it for my own amusement. I also use it heavily in my other subject iMedia which requires me to write up of all of its tools and produce examples.
